Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the liftgate pillar trim.

    (Refer to Body - "REAR PILLAR TRIM ")

  3. Disconnect the PLG spindle connector (A).

  4. Using a screwdriver, lift the socket clips (A) up slightly.
  5. Remove the PLG spindle assembly (B).

    CAUTION:
    • Work in a group of two or more when removing and installing the PLG spindle.
    • Take care not to close the liftgate while the PLG spindle is being removed.
    • Do not reuse the PLG spindle drive if it is dropped on the ground. Discard any dropped PLG spindles.
    • When carefully removing the socket clip, take extra care not to lose the socket clip as it may pop out.
    • When carefully removing the socket clip, take care not to scratch the clip surface as scratches may cause corrosions in the future.
  6. If it is necessary, remove the nuts and replace the PLG spindle bracket (A).
