[ECV valve Check]
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Hyundai Tucson. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
ECV valve check is the method to determine whether compressor is defected by faulty ECV valve or not when compressor defects found, by removing ECV valve connector and activating ECV valve with battery voltage to check if A/C pressure is raised or not.
- Remove ECV valve connector (A) pushing lock pin.
- Install ECV valve check kit.
Check kit components:
Mobis P/N: 00305 ACKIT
- Alligator clips for battery connection
- Fuse
- Activation switch
- ECV valve connector
- Connect ECV valve connector (A) in check kit to ECV valve connector (B) in compressor.
- Connect check kit to the battery terminals.
Red alligator clip : connect to battery terminal (+)
Black alligator clip : connect to battery terminal (-)
- Connect GDS diagnostic device to self diagnostic connector in the vehicle.
- Turn IG switch ON.
- Select "Vehicle type" and "engine system" then confirm.
- Select "A/C pressure" value in sensor data analysis menu.
- Turn IG switch ON.CAUTION:
- If you turn check kit switch ON when IG switch is ON ECV valve is activated so connect check kit with switch OFF.
- Turn check kit switch ON.CAUTION:
- To activate ECV valve to long can cause the damage ECV valve, Do not turn on check kit over 30 seconds.
- Examine "A/C pressure" value on "sensor data analysis menu" in GDS.
Normal A/C pressure value:
When check kit switch is on over 1000kpa is normal.
- Turn IG switch OFF.
- Remove battery terminal clips in check kit.
- Measure the resistance on both battery terminal alligator clips in check kit.
Normal resistance value:
10.1 ~ 11. 1Ω (25°C)
