DTC C1649-08: CAN Time-Out ECM For ACC/SCC: General Description

The AVSM (Advanced Vehicle Stability Management) is a safety function which prevents vehicle to crash or reduce damage of crashing by the ABS/ESP controlling braking force with SCC (Smart Cruise Control) system.

SCC makes a decision if car is about to crash by measuring the distance against the car next ahead.

The ABS/ESP stands by braking when collision hazard against the car next ahead is detected.

If collision is expected, the ABS/ESP brakes the vehicle even though the driver doesn't press brake pedal by actuating motor to reduce damage of crash.

The ABS/ESP exchanges CAN messages with ECM, TCM, SCC for normal operation of the AVSM.
