Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant (Refer to "ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM - SONATA HEV article").
  3. Remove the radiator upper hose (Refer to "ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM - SONATA HEV article").
  4. Disconnect the knock sensor connector (A).

  5. Remove the intake manifold (Refer to "ENGINE INTAKE & EXHAUST SYSTEM - SONATA HEV " article).
  6. Remove the installation bolt (A), and then remove the sensor from the cylinder block.
