Component Inspection

Check EPS motor
1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Connect GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).
3. Start engine and select "SCOPEMETER FUNCTION" on GDS.
4. Operate the steering wheel to the left and right.
5. Is EPS motor signal output within specifications?
  YES
  - Substitute with a known-good steering column & EPS unit assembly check for proper operation. If problem is corrected, replace steering column & EPS unit assembly and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
  NO
  - Check EPS motor for contamination, deterioration, or damage.
    Substitute with a known-good steering column assembly and check for proper operation.
    
    NOTE: Substitution is necessary because EPS motor is located in steering column assembly and disconnect is impossible.
    
    If the problem is corrected, replace steering column assembly and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
