Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer Retail Delivery. When a vehicle arrives at the Service Department, access Hyundai Motor America's "Warranty Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
DESCRIPTION
This bulletin describes the procedure to reprogram the Audio system software in 2012 Sonata vehicles.
Applicable Vehicles: 2012 SONATA equipped with the Audio System produced from 4/28/2011 to 2/7/2012.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE FOR AUDIO SYSTEM
Do not perform update out of sequence. Doing so can corrupt system software.
The audio must be off at the start of each updating sequence.
- Place the ignition switch to the Accessory
position by turning the ignition switch to the "ACC" position or pushing the start/stop button one time (without depressing the brake pedal).
- Turn the audio system ON by pressing the "Power" knob.
- Insert the USB memory stick into the USB slot.
- The audio will start playing. Allow the music to play for a minimum of 5 seconds.
Turn OFF the audio by pushing the "POWER" knob.
- Press and hold the radio preset button #1. Then press the radio preset button #4 and hold both preset buttons for 2 seconds.
Then push the preset button #1 quickly for 4 times.
- The current system software version is displayed on the screen. If the information is not displayed, repeat the step 4 and 5.
- To update the software, press the "SETUP" button one time and then press the radio preset button #1 one time.
- Press radio preset button #4 one time.
Updating will begin automatically and takes about 3 minutes. The system will turn off when completed.
- Press and hold the radio preset button #1. Then press the radio preset button #4 and hold both preset buttons for 2 seconds.
Press the preset button #1 quickly for 4 times.
- Press the "SETUP" button one time. Press the radio preset button #1 one time. Press the radio preset button #3 one time.
Updating will begin automatically and takes about 5 minutes.
The system will turn off when completed.
- Press and hold the radio preset button #1. Then press the radio preset button #4 and hold both preset buttons for 2 seconds.
Press the preset button #1 quickly for 4 times.
- Press the "SETUP" button one time. Press the radio preset button #1 one time. Press the radio preset button #5 one time.
Updating will begin automatically and takes about 20 seconds.
The system will turn off when completed.
- Press and hold the radio preset button #1. Then press the radio preset button #4 and hold both preset buttons for 2 seconds.
Press the preset button #1 quickly for 4 times.
- Press the "SETUP" button one time. Press the radio preset button #5 one time. Press the radio preset button #2 one time.
Updating will begin automatically and takes about 3 minutes.
The system will turn off when completed.
- Press and hold the radio preset button #1. Then press the radio preset button #4 and hold both preset buttons for 2 seconds.
Press the preset button #1 quickly for 4 times.
- The current system software version is displayed on the screen. Verify all software updates are completed as below.

BT: v1.4C_11101
DSP: YF20EG4N (for non-HD audio systems)
YF30EU4N (for HD audio systems)
VR: VR_US_140003
If the software versions match, the Campaign procedure is completed.
Repeat the reprogramming procedure starting from Step 4 if the software versions do not match.
