Power Steering Gear Box: Removal

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly.

    Raise the front of the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

  2. Remove the front wheel and tire from front hub.

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the hub bolts then remove the front wheel and tire.
  3. Drain the power steering fluid.
  4. Remove the dust cover (A).

  5. Disconnect the pressure hose (A) and the return tube (B).

  6. Remove the pressure sensor connector (A) from the pressure hose

  7. Remove the nut (A) from the stabilizer bar link (B).

  8. Using the special tool (09568-4A000) disconnect the tie rod end (A) from the knuckle arm (B).

  9. Remove the lower arm mounting bolts (A).

  10. Remove the front fork (A) and the knuckle ball joint (B) from the front lower arm (C).

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage to the aluminum lower arm.
  11. Remove the joint assembly connecting bolt (A).

  12. Remove the connecting bolts (A, B) of front and rear roll stopper.

  13. Remove the mounting bolts (10EA) of cross member assembly.

  14. Remove the heat protecting cover (A) mounting bolts.

  15. Remove the steering gear box mounting bolts and remove the steering gear box assembly (A) and the mounting rubber.

    CAUTION: When removing the gear box, pull it out carefully and slowly to avoid damaging the boots.
  16. Disconnect the pressure hose (A) and the return tube (B).
