Fuel Injector Inspection

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2003 Hyundai XG350, 2003 Hyundai Tiburon, 2003 Hyundai Sonata, 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, and 2003 Hyundai Elantra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Warm up engine and allow it to idle. Using screwdriver or stethoscope, listen to each injector. Clicking sound should be heard. If no sound is heard, measure resistance of suspected fuel injector. See FUEL INJECTOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. See Fig 1. Replace injectors that do not meet specification. To replace fuel injectors, see FUEL DELIVERY PIPE & INJECTORS under FUEL SYSTEM in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article. If injectors are okay and no operational sound is heard, go to next step.
  2. Check wiring to injectors for an open or short circuit, repair as necessary. Ensure electrical connectors fit tightly and are not corroded. For circuit testing, see appropriate WIRING DIAGRAM under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS.
