Inspect Spark Test

  1. Remove the spark plug cable.
  2. Using a spark plug socket, remove the spark plug.
  3. Remove the ignition coil.
  4. Install the spark plugs to each spark plug cable.
  5. Ground the spark plugs.
  6. Check is spark occurs while engine is being cranked.
    NOTE: To prevent gasoline from being injected from injectors during this test, disconnect the injector connector. Be sure to clean away DTC code after the timing is complete.
    NOTE: In Fig 1, for camshaft position sensor testing, refer to DTC P0340 in appropriate FUEL SYSTEM article. For crankshaft position sensor testing, refer to DTC P0335 in appropriate FUEL SYSTEM article.

  7. Using a spark plug socket, install the spark plugs.
  8. Install the spark plug cable and ignition coil.
