Radiator Cap Pressure Test
- Remove the radiator cap, wet its seal with engine coolant, then install it on the tester.
- Increase the pressure until the gauge stops moving.
Main valve opening pressure:
83 ~ 110 kPa (0.83 ~ 1.1 kg/cm2 , 12 ~ 16 psi)
Vacuum valve opening pressure:
-7 kPa (-0.07 kg/cm2 , -1.0 psi)
- Check that the pressure level is maintained at or above the limit.
- Replace the radiator cap if the reading does not remain at or above the limit.NOTE: Be sure that the cap is clean before testing, since rust or other foreign material on the cap seal will cause an incorrect reading.
