Signal Circuit Inspection

  1. Check for short to ground in harness
    1. Ignition "OFF"
    2. Disconnect Acceleration sensor connector and PCM connector.
    3. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
    4. Measure resistance between terminal 2 and 3 of sensor harness connector.

      Specification: infinite

    5. Is measure resistance within Specification?

      YES

      • Substitute with a known-good Acceleration sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace Acceleration sensor and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

      NO

      • Open circuit or short circuit to chassis ground between Acceleration sensor harness connector and signal circuit.
      • Open circuit between Acceleration sensor harness connector and PCM harness connector.
      • Repair as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
NOTE: In case, when acceleration sensor connector is disconnected, the voltage at terminal 3 is 0V.
      • Possible cause: Open or short circuit in harness between terminal 60 of PCM and terminal 3 of acceleration sensor or PCM
