Resistance & Continuity Tests

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES - HYUNDAI article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION: Use care while performing resistance and continuity tests. If resistance or continuity tests are performed on the wrong terminals, damage to wiring harness, components, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and/or ohmmeter may occur.
NOTE: Resistance and continuity test charts for Accent, Elantra, Santa Fe, Sonata, and Tiburon are not available from manufacturer.

Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector. Use a test harness set when measuring resistance and checking for continuity to protect terminals and to check terminal pressure. Diagnostic charts may also help identify shorts or opens between PCM and components. See appropriate illustration. See Figure and Fig 1 . Perform repairs and/or component replacement as necessary. Recheck resistance and continuity to confirm repair.
