Vehicle Speed Sensor

Remove Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) located on top of transaxle. Using fused jumper wires, connect battery voltage to VSS terminal No. 1 (A/T) or No. 2 (M/T). See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Connect battery voltage to VSS terminal No. 3 with a 3000 to 10,000-ohm resistor between battery and VSS. Connect ground to VSS terminal No. 2 (A/T) or No. 1 (M/T). Turn VSS shaft. Check for voltage pulses between terminals No. 2 and 3 (A/T) or between terminals No. 1 and 3 (M/T). There should be 4 voltage pulses for every one rotation of the VSS shaft. Replace VSS if it does not operate as specified. Tighten VSS mounting bolt to 35-53 INCH lbs. (4-6 N.m).
