Cruise Control Cables
- Turn A/C and all lights OFF. Ensure there are no electrical loads. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature until idle stabilizes. Confirm engine idle speed is as specified on underhood emissions label. Turn engine off.
- Ensure there are no sharp bends in cables. Depress accelerator pedal. Ensure throttle lever moves smoothly from fully closed to fully open position. Check inner cables for correct slack. If cable is too loose, loss of uphill speed will be excessive. If cable is too tight, engine idle speed will be excessive.
- Install cable to actuator lever. See Fig 1 . Pull cable tightly and tighten nut "B", then back nut off one turn. Tighten nut "A". Cable should have about 0.04" (1.0 mm) of slack with actuator lever against stop.
NOTE:
Ensure throttle valve lever is in normal idle position before beginning cable adjustment.
