Electronic Brake-Force Distribution

Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) is controlled by the HECU. HECU calculates slip ratio of each wheel at all times and controls brake pressure of rear wheels, not allowing rear wheel speed to exceed that of the front wheels. If EBD fails, the EBD warning lamp, displayed in instrument cluster as PARKING BRAKE LAMP illuminates. HECU disables anti-lock braking and allows normal braking only. System then stores a DTC and illuminates BRAKE indicator). DTCs are retrieved for diagnosis through use of a HI-SCAN (PRO) or generic scan tool. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING  .
