Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Place front wheels in straight ahead position. Remove air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULE . Remove upper and lower horn plate. Disconnect horn button connector and multifunction switch connectors. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD .
  3. Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Disconnect clockspring (multifunction switch connector) and horn connector located near bottom of steering column. Remove clockspring mounting screws. Remove clockspring.
