Checking Stator Power Source Circuit

  1. Turn ignition on, with engine off. If charge indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If charge indicator light does not illuminate, repair charge indicator circuit as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Disconnect pre-excitation resistor 4-pin connector. Pre-excitation resistor is located in passenger compartment junction block.
  3. Check for continuity between resistor terminals No. 1 and 2. Connect ohmmeter positive lead to terminal No. 2 and negative lead to resistor terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 .
  4. Continuity should exist, then reverse ohmmeter leads and check continuity. Continuity should not exist. If continuity is as specified, repair pre-excitation resistor circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Replace pre-excitation resistor if continuity is not as specified.
