Engine Identification Number

Engine identification number is stamped on right rear of engine block, on transaxle mating flange.Engine identification number consists of 11 characters. Character meaning is as follows:

1. 1st Character
   
   Engine fuel. G is for gasoline.
2. 2nd Character
   
   Engine configuration. 6 is for V type, 4 cycle, 6 cylinders.
3. 3rd Character
   
   Engine development order. C is V6 Sigma engine.
4. 4th Character
   
   Engine capacity. T is for 2972 cc.
5. 5th Character
   
   Production year. 1 is for 2001.
6. 6th To 11th Characters
   
   Engine production sequence number.
