Lower Control Arm: Inspection
- Check for damaged ball joint dust cover and bent or cracked control arm. Check lower ball joints. See BALL JOINT CHECKING under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
- Inspect control arm bushings for cracks or deterioration. Replace bushings if damaged. See CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS .
- If ball joint dust cover requires replacement, remove dust cover from ball joint. Pack ball joint with a SAE J-310 NLGI grade No. 2 grease.
- Use Ball Joint Remover/Installer to install dust cover. See SPECIAL TOOLS table. Drive dust cover onto ball joint until dust cover is fully seated.
