Sonata 3.0L

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor harness connector. Check continuity between TP sensor terminals No. 1 and 2. See Figure. Insert a .025" (.65 mm) feeler gauge between fixed Speed Adjusting Screw (SAS) and throttle lever. Loosen the TP sensor mounting screws. Turn the TP sensor fully counterclockwise. Ensure continuity exists between TP sensor terminals No. 1 and 2. Slowly rotate TP sensor clockwise until continuity no longer exists. After adjustment, tighten TP sensor mounting screws to 22-39 INCH lbs. (2.5-4.4 N.m).
  2. Tighten throttle cable. Reconnect TP sensor harness connector. Connect scan tool to DLC located at lower crash pad, below steering column. If a scan tool is not used, measure voltage between terminals No. 1 and 3. Turn ignition on, engine off. Measure TP sensor voltage should be 400-1000mV. On a scan tool, read TP sensor voltage output. If voltage is out of specification, check throttle position sensor and harness. See DTC P0120, P0121, P0122 or P0123 in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article. See following list.
