Component Tests: Tachometer

Connect an external tachometer to engine. Start engine. Compare external tachometer readings with instrument cluster tachometer readings. Replace tachometer if gauge readings are not within acceptable range. See TACHOMETER TEST  table.

CAUTION: When replacing tachometer, DO NOT reverse wiring connections, as it will damage tachometer's transistors and diodes.
