Fuel Level Sensor

  1. Remove fuel gauge sending unit from fuel tank. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light in series between positive battery terminal and sending unit terminal No. 1. SeeFigure .
  2. Using jumper wire, connect sending unit terminal No. 3 to negative battery terminal. Test light should illuminate. Submerge sending unit thermistor (float) in water. Ensure test light goes off. Replace entire fuel gauge sending unit if results are not as specified.
