Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Connect a digital voltmeter between terminals No. 13 and 18 of ECM connector. See Fig 1 .
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Check TP sensor voltage. If reading is not .48-.52 volt, loosen throttle cable. Loosen TP sensor mounting screws. Turn TP sensor clockwise (increase) or counterclockwise (decrease) until correct voltage is obtained.
  3. After adjustment, tighten TP sensor mounting screw to 13-22 INCH lbs. (1.5-2.5 N.m). Turn ignition off, and disconnect digital voltmeter. Tighten throttle cable. Disconnect vehicle battery for at least 15 seconds to erase diagnostic memory. Reconnect battery. Start engine and check idle speed.
