A/C Condenser Fan Test (Excel, Precis & SCOUPE)

  1. Power for condenser fan motor is provided through the condenser fan relay (located in underhood relay box), by the 15-amp No. 10 fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Relay power is provided from the ignition switch through the 10-amp No. 5 fuse. Relay is energized when the air conditioning switch and fan switch on the dash are both engaged.
  2. When battery voltage and ground are applied to terminals "S1" and "S2" of the condenser fan relay, continuity should exist across terminals "L" and "B". See Figure . With ignition on and A/C select switch depressed, power should be available at either "S1" or "S2" relay terminal wire. With ignition off and A/C select switch not depressed, turn fan speed switch to any position except OFF. Continuity to ground should exist at either "S1" or "S2" relay terminal wire.
