Fast Idle Air Control Valve

Fast idle air valve is a wax-actuated valve. Engine coolant circulates around wax pellet. As temperature increases the air valve is forced out, decreasing by-pass airflow rate. Valve is closed completely when coolant temperature reaches 122°F (50°C), then idle air control is taken over by ECU and Idle Speed Control (ISC) servo.
