Liftgate Window Replacement

CAUTION: When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disconnect the liftgate window support struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement (Except Avalanche and EXT Escalade) .
  2. Remove the center high mounted stop lamp applique. Refer to Back Body Opening Upper Applique Replacement (Escalade) .
  3. Remove the liftgate garnish molding. Refer to Liftgate Garnish Molding Replacement .
1 Liftgate Window Hinge E-Ring (Qty: 2)
2 Liftgate Window Hinge Bushing (Qty: 4)

Procedure

  1. If the HYBRID decal is damaged or if the liftgate window is being replaced, refer to Decal or Stripe Replacement (Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid Lower Door) or Decal or Stripe Replacement (Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid Rear Glass) or Decal or Stripe Replacement (Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid Windshield)
  2. Disconnect the rear defogger electrical connector.
