Removal Procedure

  1. It will be necessary to remove the quarter panel upper applique for the H3T. Refer to Quarter Panel Upper Applique Replacement (H3) or Quarter Panel Upper Applique Replacement (H3T)
  2. Remove the spare tire for the H3. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Disconnect the rear defogger electrical connectors.
  4. WARNING: If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.
  5. Apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim, to help prevent damage.
  6. WARNING: Refer to Defroster Outlet Warning .
  7. Cover the seats and carpeting to protect from broken glass as necessary.

    NOTE: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the endgate window or rear window (1).
  9. This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the endgate window or rear window (1).
    • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
    • Use J 24402-A  , J 39032  or equivalent in order to remove the endgate window (1). See Special Tools .
  10. If the locator pins were damaged during removal, they must be replaced.

  12. With the aid of an assistant remove the endgate window or rear window (1) from the opening.
