Installation Procedure

  1. Position the idler arm to the vehicle.
    2. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  2. Install the idler arm bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 120 N.m (89 lb ft).

  3. Connect the idler arm to the relay rod.

  4. Use installer J 29193  or installer J 29194  in order to seat the idler arm to the relay rod. See Special Tools .

    Tighten:  Tighten installer J 29193  or installer J 29194  to 54 N. See Special Tools .m (40 lb ft).

  5. Install the new idler arm nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).

  6. Install the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  7. Adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
