Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac STS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inclination sensor.
- Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the RIM.
- Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal 10 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 10 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal circuit terminal 10 at the RIM and the signal circuit terminal 3 at the inclination sensor.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the inclination sensor.
