Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac STS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the inclination sensor.
  2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the RIM.
  4. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal 10 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 10 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  6. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal circuit terminal 10 at the RIM and the signal circuit terminal 3 at the inclination sensor.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the inclination sensor.
