Installation Procedure

- Install the brake caliper bracket (1) to the knuckle.
- Prepare the bolts and the threaded holes for assembly:
- Thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads by using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
- Thoroughly clean the residue from the threaded holes by using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
- Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canada P/N 10953488), or equivalent to 2/3 of the threaded length of the lower caliper bracket bolts. Ensure that there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the bolts.
- Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation.
- Install the 2 brake caliper bracket bolts (2).
Tighten: Tighten the front brake caliper bracket bolts to 130 N.m (96 lb ft).
- Ensure that the caliper guide pin boots (2) are fully seated to the caliper guide pin retaining seat (3) of the caliper guide pin.
- Ensure that the caliper guide pin boots (2) are fully seated to the caliper boot seal retaining seat (1) of the brake caliper mounting bracket.
- Install the caliper guide pin boots (2) to the brake caliper mounting bracket retaining seat (1).
- Install the caliper guide pins (1) to the caliper mounting bracket (3).
Ensure the caliper guide pin retaining seat is fully seated to the caliper pin boot (2).
- Carefully pull outward on the caliper guide pin (3) to ensure that the caliper guide pin retaining seat is fully seated to the caliper guide pin boot (2).
- Install the brake pad retainers (1) to the brake caliper bracket (3).
- Install the brake pads (2) to the brake caliper bracket (3).
- Install the brake caliper (1) to the front brake caliper bracket (2). Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement (JE5) or Front Brake Caliper Replacement (JL9) or Front Brake Caliper Replacement (J56) .
IMPORTANT:
If reusing the caliper bracket bolts the threads of the caliper bracket bolts and the threads of the knuckle mounting holes must be free of residue and debris prior to application of threadlocker in order to ensure proper adhesion and fastener retention.
