Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac STS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: When removing connectors inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.
  • The PPS module
  • The SDM module
  • The PPS wiring harness connector
  • The SDM wiring harness connector
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the PPS and the SDM.
  2. Test for less than 1 volt between the occupant sensor serial data circuit terminal 60 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for a short to voltage.
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the occupant sensor serial data circuit terminal 60 and ground.
    • If less than infinite resistance, test the circuit for a short to ground.
  4. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the SDM occupant sensor serial data circuit terminal 60 and the PPS occupant sensor serial data circuit terminal B.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the SDM
  6. Verify DTC 1058-1062 is not set.
    • If DTC is set, replace the PPS module.
