Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac STS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

C0035

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the left front wheel speed sensor.
  2. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  3. Test for less than 1 volt between the low reference circuit terminal A and the signal circuit terminal B.
    • If not within the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  4. Disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  6. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the signal circuit terminal B at the left front wheel speed sensor connector and terminal A2 at the EBCM connector.
    • If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open or a high resistance.
  7. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal A at the left front wheel speed sensor connector and terminal A1 at the EBCM connector.
    • If not within the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open or a high resistance.
  8. If all circuits test normal, replace the left front wheel speed sensor.

C0040-C0050

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate wheel speed sensor.
  2. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the signal circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  3. Test for less than 1 volt between the low reference circuit terminal B and the signal circuit terminal A.
    • If not within the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  4. Disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  6. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the signal circuit terminal A at the wheel speed sensor connector and the appropriate terminal A3, A5, or A7 at the EBCM connector.
    • If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open or a high resistance.
  7. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit terminal B at the wheel speed sensor connector and the appropriate terminal A4, A6, or A8 at the EBCM connector.
    • If not within the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open or a high resistance.
  8. If all circuits test normal, replace the wheel speed sensor.
