Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Classic. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Inspect the caliper slide boots for cuts, tears, or deterioration. If damaged, replace the slides and boots. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Hardware Replacement .
- Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper bracket.
- Install the 2 brake caliper pin bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the brake caliper pin bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
- Install the park brake cable to the caliper.
- Remove the caps or plugs from the brake caliper opening and the brake hose.
- Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets to the brake hose-to-caliper bolt and to the brake hose.
- Install the brake hose and the brake hose-to-caliper bolt to the brake caliper.
Tighten: Tighten the brake caliper bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) .
- With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Slowly release the brake pedal.
- Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 11 and 12 until a firm brake pedal apply is obtained; this will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Apply and release the park brake pedal 4 times.

IMPORTANT:
DO NOT reuse the copper brake hose gaskets.
