Installation Procedure

  1. Position the thermostat housing to the engine block.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the thermostat housing bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Position the J 38185  to the clamp (3) in order to connect the radiator inlet hose (2) to the thermostat housing (4).
  6. Install the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front in Body Front End.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  9. Inspect all sealing surfaces for leaks after starting the engine.
