Tools Required

CAUTION: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in Cautions and Notices.
CAUTION: Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.
CAUTION: Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.
  1. Remove the fuel filler cap.

  3. Install the J 42960-2  into the fuel fill pipe in order to hold the door open. See Special Tools .
  4. IMPORTANT: Lubricate the fuel drain hose with J 36850  or equivalent to aid in hose insertion and removal. Do not use an unapproved lubricant.
  5. Insert the J 45004  into the fuel tank until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank. See Special Tools .
  6. Use an air operated pump device in order to drain the fuel into an approved gasoline container.
  7. Simultaneously twist and pull in order to remove the J 45004  from the fuel tank. See Special Tools .
