Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the side mounted switch mounting bracket (2) to the steering column tilt head assembly.

    If not a side mounted bracket go to step  3 .

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 7 N.m (62 lb in).

  3. To install the windshield washer and wiper switch assembly go to step  7 .

    Important:  The switch mounting bracket must be pressed firmly against the steering column tilt head in order for the screws from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly screws to line up.

  4. Slide the switch mounting bracket onto the steering column shaft assembly.
  5. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly only. Refer to MULTIFUNCTION, TURN SIGNAL SWITCH REPLACEMENT in Steering Column. .
  6. Install the turn signal cancel cam and steering shaft upper bearing spring. Refer to TURN SIGNAL CANCEL CAM AND STEERING SHAFT UPPER BEARING SPRING REPLACEMENT in Steering Column. .

  7. If necessary, install the switch assembly into the switch mounting bracket so that the locking tabs snap into place.
  8. Connect the wire harness assembly.

  9. Install new wire harness straps.
  10. Install the wire harness assembly into the wire restraint clips (1).
  11. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT in Steering Wheel and Column.
  12. Install the steering column bracket. Refer to BRACKET REPLACEMENT -- STEERING COLUMN in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.
