DTC P0087: Inspection
Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Inspection (1)
Preconditions
NOTE: This procedure can be done before any other inspections are completed because this test procedure includes all of the following inspection items. However, if this test fails, it will be necessary to continue with each inspection item individually to determine which item failed.
- Result of the fuel pressure test (low pressure side) is normal.
Test Procedure
- Procedure
- Start the engine.
- Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
- Shift the transmission to D position/mode while pressing the brake pedal firmly, then press the accelerator pedal.
NOTE: Do not shift the transmission or remove your foot off the brake pedal, while raising the engine speed.
- Compare the HDS [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor] and the [Fuel Pressure Direct Injection System].
- Normal Conditions
- The HDS [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor] and the [Fuel Pressure Direct Injection System] values are almost same.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the fuel rail.
Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Inspection (2)
Preconditions
NOTE: This procedure can be done before any other inspections are completed because this test procedure includes all of the following inspection items. However, if this test fails, it will be necessary to continue with each inspection item individually to determine which item failed.
- Result of the fuel pressure test (low pressure side) is normal.
Test Procedure
- Preparation
- Fuel tank unit connector (4P): disconnected
- Procedure
- Start the engine, and let it idle until it stalls.
- After the engine stalls, crank the engine for several times.
- Confirm the HDS [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor].
- Normal Conditions
- The HDS [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor] value is less than 1,000 kPa
.
NOTE: It is normal if the value of several hundred kPa is indicated.
- The HDS [Fuel Pressure Converted From PF Sensor] value is less than 1,000 kPa
.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the fuel rail.
High Pressure Fuel Pump Cam Inspection
Preconditions
- Fuel rail pressure sensor is normal.
Test Procedure
- Normal Conditions
- There is no damage, and the camshaft wear is within the specified value.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the rear intake camshaft.
NOTE: If there is the problem, check for damage, deformation, or wear on the roller of lifter attached with the high pressure fuel pump.
High Pressure Fuel Pump Inspection
Test Procedure
- If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining high pressure fuel pump is the cause.
Results
- There is a problem with the high pressure fuel pump.
