DTC P0016: Inspection

Timing Belt Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check for damage at the timing belt .

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no damage or fray.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the timing belt.

CMP Sensor A (Bank 1) Installation Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check that CMP sensor A (Bank 1) is installed correctly.

• Normal Conditions
  • CMP sensor A (Bank 1) is installed correctly.

Results 

• If it is normal, there is a problem with CMP sensor A (Bank 1).
• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with incorrect installation of CMP sensor A (Bank 1).

  NOTE:  Reinstall CMP sensor A (Bank 1) correctly.

CMP Pulse Plate A (Bank 1) Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
  • CMP sensor A (Bank 1): removed

• Procedure
  • Visually inspect CMP pulse plate A (Bank 1) for looseness or damages.

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no looseness or damages.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with CMP pulse plate A (Bank 1).

CKP Sensor Installation Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check that CKP sensor is installed correctly.

• Normal Conditions
  • The CKP sensor is installed correctly.

Results 

• If it is normal, there is a problem with the CKP sensor.
• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with incorrect installation of the CKP sensor.

  NOTE:  Reinstall the CKP sensor correctly.

CKP Pulse Plate Visual Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
  • CKP sensor: removed

• Procedure
  • Visually inspect the CKP pulse plate for looseness or damages.

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no looseness or damages.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the CKP pulse plate.

VTC System Oil Passage Inspection 

Preconditions 

NOTE:  This procedure can be done before any other inspections are completed because this test procedure includes all of the following inspection items. However, if this test fails, it will be necessary to continue with each inspection item individually to determine which item failed.

• VTC oil control solenoid valve A (Bank 1) is normal
• VTC actuator A (Bank 1) is normal

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
  • Check for debris or clogs in the VTC system oil passages.

• Normal Conditions
  • There is no debris or clogs.

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the VTC system oil passages.
