- VTC Actuator A and VTC Actuator B - Inspect
Preconditions
- VTC Actuator with Camshaft Removed
- VTC actuator A/B is locked by turning it.

Procedure/Specifications
1. Seal the retard/advance holes (a) of the intake/exhaust camshaft with tape and a zip tie. (Figure 1 and 2)

2. Seal one of the advance/retard holes (b) of the intake/exhaust camshaft with tape. (Figure 3)

3. Apply air to the unsealed advance/retard hole (c) to release the lock. (Figure 4)

4. Check that VTC actuator A/B moves smoothly. (Figure 5)
NOTE: Turn VTC actuator B by hand while applying air.Specifications
Specification VTC actuator moves smoothly 5. VTC actuator A: Turn VTC actuator A clockwise until you hear it click. Make sure to lock VTC actuator A by turning it.VTC actuator B: Check that VTC actuator B is locked by turning it.

- If it is abnormal, replace VTC actuator A/B .
After Inspection
- Remove the zip tie, the tape, and the adhesive residue from the camshaft journal.
