DTC P2638

DTC P2638  : Torque Management Feedback Signal A Range/Performance

NOTE:
  • Before you troubleshoot, Review the General Troubleshooting Information .
  • This code has a high rate of misdetection.
  • This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.
  • Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P2638 Torque Management Feedback Signal A Range/Performance      

DTC (A/T)

  1. PGM-FI system DTC check

    - 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs in the PGM-FI system and A/T system with the HDS.

    PGM-FI system

    A/T system 

    DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
           

    Are PGM-FI or A/T system DTCs indicated at the same time?

    YES 

    Go to the indicated PGM-FI system DTC's troubleshooting - Refer to:

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. Problem verification

    - 1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 2. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes under the same conditions as those indicated by the freeze data.

    - 3. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC P2638 indicated?

    YES 

    Check the customer's transmission related complaint and proceed to further troubleshooting using the A/T System Symptom Troubleshooting Index. - Refer to: A/T System Symptom Troubleshooting Index (2019 2020 2021: 9-Speed A/T) or A/T System Symptom Troubleshooting Index (6-Speed A/T) or A/T System Symptom Troubleshooting Index (2016 2017 2018: 9-Speed A/T) .

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections and loose terminals at the TCM. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
