DTC P2638 : Torque Management Feedback Signal A Range/Performance
- Before you troubleshoot, review the General Troubleshooting Information .
- This code has a high rate of misdetection.
- This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.

DTC (A/T)
- PGM-FI system DTC check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs in the PGM-FI system and A/T system with the HDS.

DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC A/T system
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame Are PGM-FI or A/T system DTCs indicated at the same time?
YES
Go to the indicated PGM-FI system DTC's troubleshooting - Refer to: Fuel and Emissions Systems DTC Troubleshooting Index (2021) or Fuel and Emissions Systems DTC Troubleshooting Index (2019 2020) or Fuel and Emissions Systems DTC Troubleshooting Index (2022 2023) first (if present), then troubleshoot any A/T system DTC's .
NO
Go to step 2.
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-2. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes under the same conditions as those indicated by the freeze data.
-3. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

YES
Check the customer's transmission related complaint and proceed to further troubleshooting using the A/T System Symptom Troubleshooting Index.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections and loose terminals at the TCM. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
