DTC P059F
DTC P059F: Shutter Grille Assembly (Upper) Malfunction
General Description
The shutter grille system open/closes the shutter depending on the driving conditions. The system improves fuel efficiency by reducing the wind drag. The shutter is controlled by the shutter grille which integrates the actuator. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends open/close requests which depends on the driving conditions to the shutter grille via the local interconnect network (LIN) line. If the actuator is detected as abnormal, the PCM confirms the abnormality and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | 2.5 seconds or more |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL off |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | |
|---|---|
| State of the engine | Running |
Malfunction Threshold
Either of the condition occurs for at least 2.5 seconds:
- The actuator does not reach the fully open position or the fully closed position by initial learning in the fully open position or fully closed position +12 % or more of the opening with respect to the position.
- The actuator does not reach the fully open or fully closed position by rotated 125 deg. or more.
Possible Cause
NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Internal gear damage of actuator
- Shutter grille fins miss installed
- Torque transmission part of the shutter grille (link lever, link actuator) miss installed
- Actuator miss installed
- Shutter grille internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
