DTC: 1702
DTC 1702 : XM Antenna Error
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first - Refer to:
- This audio DTC sets when there is poor connectors or loose terminals at the XM antenna connector or an open in XM antenna lead.
- Before You Troubleshoot, Make Sure To Follow The General Troubleshooting Information .
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the hard error codes.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode then the ON mode.
- 3. Turn on the audio system, and select the XM radio.
- 4. Check for hard error codes.
Is DTC 1702 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
- XM antenna check (SAT/TERM line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector No. 1 Test point 2 Body ground Is there about 5.0 V?
YES
Replace the roof antenna - Refer to:
Roof Antenna Removal and Installation (2019 2020 2021) or
Roof Antenna Removal and Installation (2016 2017 2018) .
NO
Go to step 3.
- Open wire check (SAT/TERM line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
Audio unit connector M (2P) - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Audio unit connector M (2P): disconnected Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Audio unit connector M (2P) No. 1 - Refer to:
Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Color Audio Type [5-inch Screen]) (2016 2017) or
Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Color Audio Type [5-inch Screen]) (2018) or
Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Display Audio Type [8-inch Screen]) (2016 2017 2018) or
Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021) .Test point 2 Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector No. 1 Is there continuity?
YES
Replace the audio unit - Refer to:
Audio Unit Removal and Installation (Display Audio Type [8-inch Screen]) (2016 2017 2018) or
Audio Unit Removal and Installation (Color Audio Type [5-inch Screen]) .
NO
Replace the antenna lead (XM) and/or the sublead (XM).
DTC 1702 : XM Antenna Error

- Before You Troubleshoot, Make Sure To Follow The General Troubleshooting Information .
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Problem verification
-1. Clear the hard error codes.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode then the ON mode.
- 3. Turn on the audio system, and select the XM radio.
- 4. Check for hard error codes.
Is DTC 1702 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
NO

Roof Antenna Removal and Installation (2016 2017 2018) .
NO
Go to step 3.
- Open wire check (SAT/TERM line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
Audio-navigation unit connector M (2P) - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Audio-navigation unit connector M (2P): disconnected Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector M (2P) No. 1 - Refer to:
Audio-Navigation Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018) or
Audio-Navigation Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) .Test point 2 Roof antenna (XM) 2P connector No. 1 Is there continuity?
YES
Replace The AUDIO-NAVIGATION Unit (2016 2017 2018) .
NO
Replace the antenna lead (XM) and/or the sublead (XM).
