A/T Oil Seal Replacement: Replacement

NOTE:

Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for AWD.

Control Shaft Oil Seal 

  1. Front Bulkhead Cover - Remove
  2. Air Intake Tube - Remove

  3. Control Shaft Oil Seal - Remove

  4. Control Shaft Oil Seal - Install

    		 1. Install the control shaft oil seal (A) using oil seal driver E until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.
  5. Air Intake Tube - Install

  6. Front Bulkhead Cover - Install

    Torque Converter Oil Seal 

  7. Transmission Assembly - Remove - Refer to: Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(9-Speed A/T), or Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(6-Speed A/T)
  8. Torque Converter Oil Seal - Remove

  9. Torque Converter Oil Seal - Install

    		 1. Install the torque converter oil seal (A) using oil seal driver D until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.
  10. Transmission Assembly - Install - Refer to: Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(9-Speed A/T), or Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(6-Speed A/T)

    Differential Oil Seal (Transmission Housing Side) 

  11. Left Driveshaft Inboard Joint - Disconnect
    NOTE:

    Secure the driveshaft to the body with a nylon strap.

  12. Differential Oil Seal (Transmission Housing Side) - Remove

    		 1. Remove the differential outer oil seal (A).

    2. Remove the differential inner oil seal (B).
  13. Differential Oil Seal (Transmission Housing Side) - Install

    		 1. Install oil seal installer guide A.

    2. Install the differential inner oil seal (A) using the 15 x 135L driver handle and oil seal driver A (the small diameter side) until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.

    3. Remove oil seal installer guide A.

    		 4. Turn oil seal driver A upside down, and install the differential outer oil seal (A) using the 15 x 135L driver handle and oil seal driver A (the major diameter side) until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.
  14. Left Driveshaft Inboard Joint - Connect

    Differential Oil Seal (Torque Converter Housing Side) 

  15. Transmission Assembly - Remove - Refer to: Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(9-Speed A/T), or Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(6-Speed A/T)
  16. Differential Oil Seal (Torque Converter Housing Side) - Remove

    		 1. Remove the differential outer oil seal (A).

    2. Remove the differential inner oil seal (B).
  17. Differential Oil Seal (Torque Converter Housing Side) - Install

    		 1. Install oil seal installer guide A.

    2. Install the differential inner oil seal (A) using the 15 x 135L driver handle and oil seal driver B (the major diameter side) until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.

    3. Remove oil seal installer guide A.

    		 4. Turn oil seal driver B upside down, and install the differential outer oil seal (A) using the 15 x 135L driver handle and oil seal driver B (the small diameter side) until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.
  18. Transmission Assembly - Install - Refer to: Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(9-Speed A/T), or Automatic Transmission Removal and Installation(6-Speed A/T)

    Transfer Output Shaft Oil Seal (With AWD) 

  19. ATF - Drain - Refer to: ATF Replacement(9-Speed A/T),  or ATF Replacement(6-Speed A/T) 
  20. Transfer Assembly - Remove - Refer to: Transfer Assembly Removal and Installation(9-Speed A/T), or Transfer Assembly Removal and Installation(6-Speed A/T)
  21. Transfer Output Shaft Oil Seal - Remove

    		 1. Install oil seal installer guide C.

    2. Install the transfer output shaft oil seal (A) using oil seal driver C until the oil seal driver has been fully seated.

    3. Remove oil seal installer guide C.
  23. Transfer Assembly - Install - Refer to: Transfer Assembly Removal and Installation(9-Speed A/T), or Transfer Assembly Removal and Installation(6-Speed A/T)
  24. ATF - Refill - Refer to: ATF Replacement(9-Speed A/T),  or ATF Replacement(6-Speed A/T)
