DTC 2623 : Compass Diag

NOTE:

Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first - Refer to:
12 Volt Battery Test (Without Auto Idle Stop System) or

12 Volt Battery Test (Touring) .
This audio DTC sets when Connection NG is indicated in the electrical compass unit diagnosis (the compass unit icon is red in the System Links).
Before You Troubleshoot, Make Sure To Follow The General Troubleshooting Information .
Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

Problem verification
-1. Clear the hard error codes.

- 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode then the ON mode.

- 3. Check for hard error codes.

Is DTC 2623 indicated?

YES

The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

NO

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

Open wire check (IG1 METER line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

- 2. Disconnect the following connector.

Electrical compass unit 6P connector

- 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

- 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

Test point 1	Electrical Compass Unit 6P Connector (2016 2017 2018) No. 6
Test point 2	Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

YES

The IG1 METER wire is OK. Go to step 3.

Repair an open in the wire between the No. C29 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the electrical compass unit.

Open wire check (GND line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

- 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
Test point 1	Electrical Compass Unit 6P Connector (2016 2017 2018) No. 5
Test point 2	Body ground

Is there continuity?

YES

The GND wire is OK. Go to step 4.

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the electrical compass unit and body ground (G501).

Shorted wire check (COMPASS lines) 1

-1. Disconnect the following connector.

Audio unit connector J (28P)

- 2. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.

Is there continuity?

YES

Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit.

The COMPASS wires are not shorted. Go to step 5.

Shorted wire check (COMPASS lines) 2

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES

Repair a short in the wires between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit.

The COMPASS wires are not shorted. Go to step 6.

Open wire check (COMPASS lines)

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

	Electrical compass unit 6P connector: disconnected
	Audio unit connector J (28P): disconnected

Test point 1: Electrical Compass Unit 6P Connector (2016 2017 2018)	Test point 2: Audio unit connector J (28P) - Refer to: Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Color Audio Type [5-inch Screen]) (2016 2017) or Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Color Audio Type [5-inch Screen]) (2018) or Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (Display Audio Type [8-inch Screen]) (2016 2017 2018) or Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2019 2020 2021) .

Is there continuity?

YES

Replace The Electrical Compass Unit (2016 2017 2018) .

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit.
