Steering Column Removal and Installation: Installation
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations , and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
Where icon is shown, further information shown below.
- Do not release the lock lever until the steering column is installed. If the lock lever is released before installation, adjust the steering column after installation.
- Be careful not to damage the brake pedal position switch.

- Steering Column - Install
1. Install the steering column (A).
2. Loosely install the new nuts (B) and original nuts (C).
3. Tighten the nuts to the specified torque in the numbered sequence shown.
- Steering Joint - Connect
- Combination Switch Body Assembly/Wire Harness - Install

1. Install the combination switch body assembly (A). 2. Tighten the screws (B) in the numbered sequence shown.
- Combination Switch Body Wire Harness - Install
- Column Cover - Install
- Driver's Knee Airbag - Install
- Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover - Install
- Steering Wheel - Install
NOTE: Check the steering wheel spoke angle.
- Driver's Airbag - Install
- Tilt Mechanism and Telescopic Mechanism - Check
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
- Steering Column After Install - Check
1. After installation, check these items: - Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
- Check the tilt mechanism and the telescopic mechanism for movement and damage.
- With the front wheels straight ahead, make sure the steering wheel is centered and the turning revolutions from center to full lock (left and right) is equal. If not, check the installation of the steering wheel and the engagement of the joint/pinion shaft splines.
- Wheel Alignment - Check
- VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize
