Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) System Description
Function
The ACC system with Low Speed Follow (LSF), with an expended operation range to the time when the vehicle is stopped, reduce
the burden on the driver while driving on expressways, from cruising at high speeds to driving in traffic jams. The multipurpose
camera unit detects a leading vehicle based on the information from the millimeter wave radar and the multipurpose camera unit and
controls the drive force and brake so that an appropriate distance is maintained between the vehicles. If there is no leading vehicle,
the vehicle drives at a set constant vehicle speed (25 to 90 mph (40 to 145 km/h)) and stops when a leading vehicle stops. Follow-up
control resumes when the RES/+ or SET/- switch, or the accelerator pedal is operated.
Failure diagnosis function:
- For details on the functions of ACC indicator (amber), ACC indicator (white), and ACC activation indicator (green), refer to How
to Troubleshoot the Driving Support
- ACC System Auto Stop Control History
The ACC system stops operating when there is a problem with the environment surrounding the system (weather, road surface
condition, and driving condition) even if the system itself is normal and at this time, ACC system auto stop control history is
memorized. The ACC system auto stop control history can be checked with the HDS. For details on the functions,

Basic Control
The ACC system with LSF controls vehicle speed and vehicle-to-vehicle distance ranging from driving without a preceding vehicle to driving in a traffic jam.
Control in Traffic Jams after ACC System is Stopped
In the ACC system is stopped because of a traffic jam, the brake control is automatically shifted to the electric parking brake.
Preceding Vehicle Change Detection
The system estimates the driving course based on your vehicle speed and yaw rate and detects a vehicle that enters the camera range and differentiates it from the leading vehicle using the lane and leading vehicle information from the multipurpose camera.
