ATF Replacement (6-Speed A/T): Replacement

NOTE:

Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.
When you drain the transmission fluid to remove components, drain the fluid without warming the engine for safety.

Engine - Warm Up

1. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
Vehicle - Lift
Front Bulkhead Cover - Remove
Air Intake Tube - Remove

1. Disconnect the breather pipe (A).

ATF - Drain

1. Remove the ATF filler bolt (A) with the sealing washer (B).

2. Remove the drain plug (A).

3. Drain the ATF.

4. Reinstall the drain plug using a new sealing washer (B).

ATF - Refill

1. Refill the transmission with the recommended fluid through the filler hole (A). Always use genuine Honda ATF DW- 1.

NOTE: Using a non-Honda ATF can affect shift quality.

2. Install the ATF filler bolt (B) with a new sealing washer (C).

Automatic Transmission Fluid Capacity
	Without AWD:
		3.1 L (3.3 US qt) at change
		7.0-7.4 L (7.4-7.8 US qt) at overhaul
	With AWD:
		3.1 L (3.3 US qt) at change
		7.3-7.7 L (7.7-8.1 US qt) at overhaul

3. Remove the ATF dipstick (A).

4. Make sure the ATF fluid level is between the upper mark (B) and the lower mark (C) on the ATF dipstick.

5. Insert the ATF dipstick back into the ATF dipstick tube.

Intake Air Duct - Install

1. Install the intake air duct.

2. Connect the breather pipe (A).

Maintenance Minder - Reset (With Maintenance Minder System)

1. If the Maintenance Minder required to replace the ATF, reset the Maintenance Minder with the gauge (see "Resetting the Maintenance Minder") - Refer to: Maintenance Minder General Information (2019 2020 2021), or Maintenance Minder General Information (2016 2017 2018) . If the Maintenance Minder did not require to replace the ATF, reset the Maintenance Minder with the HDS (see "Resetting the Individual Maintenance Items") - Refer to: Maintenance Minder General Information (2019 2020 2021), or Maintenance Minder General Information (2016 2017 2018) .
