Hood Latch Replacement
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2014 Honda Ridgeline, 2013 Honda Ridgeline, 2012 Honda Ridgeline, 2011 Honda Ridgeline, and 2010 Honda Ridgeline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body.
- Remove the front bumper (see FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the clips, then remove the hood latch cover (A).
- With hood latch switch: Detach the latch switch connector (A) from the connector clip (B), and disconnect it.
- Remove the bolts and the nut, then remove the latch (A) from the body.
- Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B). Take care not to kink the cable.
- Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch as indicated by the arrows.
- Make sure the hood opener cable is connected securely and the hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly (with security system).
- Make sure the cable actuates the latch before you close the hood.
- Adjust the hood latch alignment (see step HOOD ADJUSTMENT ).
- Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.
