Tailgate Lower Handle Replacement

NOTE:
  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • Take care not to kink the cable.
  1. Swing the tailgate open.
  2. Remove the tailgate trim panel (see TAILGATE TRIM PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  3. Remove the tailgate lower handle (A).
    1. -1 Detach the cable clip (B).
    2. -2 Remove the nuts securing the lower handle.
    3. -3 Pull out the handle, and disconnect the lower handle cable (C).

  4. Install the lower handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the threaded studs before reinstalling the handle.
    • Make sure the lower handle cable is connected securely.
    • Make sure the tailgate opens in swing mode properly.
